MSAT Mobile Data

MSAT Mobile Data

The ability to transmit vital data is essential, whether you need to gather information from distant fleets and rolling stock, monitor remote equipment or retrieve bill of lading information from delivery vehicles.

Our Mobile Data services make transferring data from isolated sites or mobile resources quick and efficient.

Skyterra's Packet Switched Data Network provides users with real-time, "always-on" data transfer capability. User terminals can send/receive multiple messages at once and are billed for the amount of data they consume. Common applications include fleet and load management, e-mail, vehicle position reporting, mobile computing, data message broadcasting, and lone worker monitoring.

Access to Skyterra's Packet Data Network is enabled by the use of the PDT-100 Satellite Terminal. Manufactured by EMS Technologies, the PDT-100 features an antenna, transmitter, receiver, digital I/O, GPS receiver, and RS232 connection all contained within a rugged 3 lb enclosure.

Skyterra's Circuit Data service allows a user terminal to establish a 4.8 kbps dial-up data circuit, facilitating the transfer and receipt of secure data transactions. Circuit data communication is enabled through the use of a PC or other data terminal equipment connected to the MSAT-G2 Satellite Radio. Users are billed for the amount of time a data circuit is active. Common applications include e-mail, file transfer, and remote monitoring.

SkyTerra supports wireless data applications such as:

  • • Fleet and load management
  • • E-mail
  • • Vehicle tracking
