ABOUT SKYTERRA

Customer Transition Program

The launch window for SkyTerra 1 is scheduled for the fall 2010. To facilitate a smooth transition to our next-generation network, we have developed technology to allow current subscribers to continue to operate their existing devices on our next-generation satellites until the end of the "Emulation Period".

Currently there are two major components of the Customer Transition Program: Device Upgrade and Registration Card. Details on each of these components are described in the tabs below.

Customer Transition Incentive Program:
Device Upgrade Initiative Highlights

The device upgrade will provide our valued MSAT customers a smooth transition to our next-generation network where they will experience the power of our integrated satellite-terrestrial network.

  • SkyTerra enterprise customers with active MSAT-G2 equipment and up-to-date accounts will qualify to receive a new next-generation device (mounted or handheld) at the time of service transition for each active terminal they operate.
  • All Government customers with active accounts will receive a new next-generation device, regardless of the type of device they are operating.
  • Enterprise customers with 10 or more active Westinghouse or Mitsubishi terminals will also receive a new next-generation device (mounted or handheld) for each unit.
  • Each new mounted next-generation device will require a 36-month contract with SkyTerra for next-generation satellite services, while each new handheld next-generation device will require a 24-month service contract for next-generation satellite services.
  • Enterprise customers operating less than 10 of the Westinghouse or Mitsubishi models will receive a 40% subsidy toward the purchase of a new next-generation device (mounted or handheld), up to a maximum subsidy of $375 per device, with mounted devices requiring a 36-month service contract and handheld devices requiring a 24-month service contract.
